MUSEU REGIONAL
DE CAETÉ
2023
GRAPHIC DESIGN
The Regional Museum of Caeté, located in the historic city of Caeté, Minas Gerais, was inaugurated in 1979. Originally, the Regional Museum of Caeté was part of the Group of Museums and Historical Houses of Minas Gerais, an organ of the extinct National Pro-Memory Foundation.
The museum's collection concerns Popular Culture, more specifically, the field of visual and utilitarian arts: paintings, sculptures, furniture, household utensils and other types of objects. This statement is supported by the visual presentation of the objects that make up each of these fields and whose main characteristic is the practical and "uneducated" way of their execution. By "uneducated" is meant the lack of completeness and good finish given to the work, even though it contains the essence of the representation it proposes.
Therefore, it is through the valorization of local culture (and popular art) that the Museum wishes to tell the history of Caeté. This is its master narrative line: the people, their traditions, their non-erudite culture, their forgotten and commonly undervalued history.
THE CHALLANGE
The challenge was to redesign the museum's logo in order to highlight its name, use colors that represent it (in this case, blue and red, as they are the colors of the facade) and create a more identifiable and legible logo.
