21ª SEMANA NACIONAL
DE MUSEUS
2023
GRAPHIC DESIGN
The National Museum Week is an annual event promoted by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram) that takes place in celebration of International Museum Day, celebrated on May 18th.
This event mobilizes museums and other cultural institutions throughout Brazil to offer a wide variety of cultural and educational activities to the public, promoting the appreciation of cultural heritage and strengthening the relationship between museum institutions and society.
In 2023, the 21st edition of the National Museum Week brings the theme "Museums, Sustainability and Well-being", as part of the advancement of an agenda dedicated to sustainability.
The choice of the theme, proposed annually by the International Council of Museums - ICOM for International Museum Day, celebrated on May 18th, aims to highlight the importance of museums as spaces that promote well-being and sustainability and support three of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN): Global Health and Well-Being, Climate Action and Life on Earth.

THE VISUAL IDENTITY
As this year's theme is "Museums, Sustainability and Well-Being", we followed the construction of a visual identity that reinforces and promotes the commitment of museums to this theme, serving as the main support for the dissemination of their actions in favor of the environment.
We also based our creation on some of the most sustainable museums found in Brazil, such as Inhotim, the Museu do Amanhã and Emílio Goeldi.
Based on the Earth, Water and Green found in our country, we chose to promote textures that refer to these elements, their presence being fundamental for the complete composition of the pieces.

Having the ICOM poster as the main source, the colors presented here in all their variations seek to refer to the elements of nature that inspired the creation: the green of our forests, the blue of our rivers and seas, the brown of our earth and the beige representing our sky and clouds.
ATXÚHU means "language" in Patxohã, the language of the Pataxó people, and was created in a meeting of knowledge, at the school of Aldeia Kaí in Cumuruxatiba, Bahia.
The typography, which is part of a project called Edições Zabelê, was built with handmade stamps, which were also made at the meeting, with the artisan Rita Pataxó.
As a complementary font, the Economica typography was chosen, due to its Latin American origin and cohesion with the rest of the project, conferring good readability, little use of space and easy access to use by the museums and organizations participating in the event.
Also, the graphics presented here are based on the stamps used by the main font, ensuring consistency and reinforcing the brand's positioning.
